Iowa law requires that at the completion of thirty-six (36) months of coverage and prior to the completion of forty-eight (48) months of coverage every Iowa FAIR Plan Association policy shall be non-renewed. This process is to encourage a return to the voluntary market.
Producers will receive advance notice of such non-renewals. Producers are then expected to search the voluntary market for replacement coverage for any such non-renewed risks. If such a search is unsuccessful, the consumer may reapply for coverage through the Iowa FAIR Plan Association. This can be accomplished by submitting a new application, the correct premium, and a letter indicating that the producer cannot place the risk with another company represented by the producer.
