Store Propane Tanks Outside
From the Iowa State Fire Marshal Division Fire safety Tip: Always store propane tanks outside of buildings or garages. Vapors leaked indoors can be easily ignited by pilot lights or electrical equipment, causing an explosion. Nationally, propane-related grilling accidents cause more than 6,000 fires and explosions annually, resulting in 20,000 ER visits and 20 deaths.
